Lotus Symphony, not so Good
The IBM Lotus Symphony is made up of Lotus Symphony Documents, Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets and Lotus Symphony Presentations, the tools support Windows and Linux desktops and are designed to handle the majority of office tasks that workers typically perform. It also supports multiple file formats including Microsoft Office and ODF (Open Document Format), and can also output content in the popular PDF format.
Like lots of you I try to download the Lotus symphony from the IBM web site, but after IBM asked me to register for downloading its office suite, I just exit the web page and search for another download location. Thanks to Softpedia.com I manage to download the IBM Lotus Symphony Suite.
The installation of Lotus Suite when on normally after a decompression and a setup.
Then came the BIG moment.Opening the Lotus Symphony spreadsheet for editing an Excel xls format file was a waste of time.Zone Alarm pop up and asked me if I will allow J9 to act as a server? Do not know why J9 has to act as a serve? Then came the expected surprise, the first method which is file—>open, gave me the document in a text version. This has not surprise me cause it happen also with OpenOffice. So I try the working method that I used on OpenOffice that is drag and drop.No way this also did not work.So why download a 140MB of software when a simple computer Novice cannot use it.
So what to do Now? I when back on OpenOffice and use my drag and drop method to open the xls files format and I am left with, “what to do with the IBM Lotus Symphony Software on my PC, delete?”
